Florence “Flo” Arlene Moscon, age 77, passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer with her children by her side.

Flo was born in Santa Rosa, CA on March 2,1946. She graduated from Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa in 1964 and studied at Sonoma State University School of Liberal Arts and Business, where she graduated in 1968. In 1970, Flo married her best friend and love of her life, Joseph Moscon, and they settled down in Fremont, CA. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family before they began their own family in 1977. Flo started her career with Pacific Bell in 1967 as a Telephone Operator and in April 2002, after 35 years with AT&T, she retired to care for her grandchildren. Flo enjoyed a long, successful career and loved to share her experiences and knowledge.

As an active community member, Flo touched the lives of many. She was a proud member of the Candle Lighters organization and could often be found on many October nights selling tickets at the Fremont Ghost House. Flo also volunteered for nearly 20 years at Azevada Elementary School in Fremont in numerous ways. She was a founding member of the school garden, served for many years on Azevada’s and Fremont Unified School District’s committees and PTA groups, and most notably, served as a volunteer librarian. Volunteering at the Azevada Library brought her much joy. She made genuine connections with the children and adults, and became a Mom and Nonni to many. Flo was a huge supporter of education and learning for all children and adults.

Flo was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Joseph Moscon, her brothers: Fred Jr. Moscon, Daniel Moscon, and step-brother Gary Moscon.  She is survived by her children Danielle (Basil) Nite and Brian (Sabrina) Moscon, and her five grandchildren Basil, Alex, Mia, Gavin and Giada, whom she adored. They will all miss their Nonni immensely. Flo will also be forever remembered by her sisters Mary Moscon Tracy, Kitty Carterby, Kathy-Jean Hegwine, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30am, Friday, October 27th, 2023, at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, 40842 Fremont Boulevard Fremont, CA 94538.

  1. CandleHello Dani. It is a big shock for all of us to know about the sudden demise of your Mom, Flo Moscon. We were all trying to recall her last visit in January this year. We did not know that she already has some health concern. Please know that Flo is in our thoughts and prayers. She will be very much missed by all of us especially her infectious smile and bubbly personality.

  2. CandleI always looked forward to Wednesdays (Library day)so I could check in on Flo and chat with her a bit. Flo was such a great listener and had a way of putting things into perspective. She was part of the Azevada School Community from the start of my teaching career there. Her giving spirit and dedication to serving Azevada will forever be present at our school. She will be truly missed.
