April 18, 1956 - August 27, 2019 Born in Alameda, California Resided in Fremont, California
On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, Thomas Foord Evernden III, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 63.
Tom was born on April 18, 1956 in Alameda, California to his proud parents Thomas Foord Evernden MD and Diana Abraham Evernden. Tom grew up with four sisters: Rose, Kathy, Joy, Juli and cousins Sherrie and Cyndy. On August 27, 1983, he married Kari Lee Ortloff. Together they raised their son, Tommy, and their daughter, Rachel.
Tom was known by everyone in his life as a strong supportive force with a spirit of selfless generosity and love. He would drop anything to help his kids with a project, whether it be on their school science experiments, perfecting a soccer skill, their countless moves, and finally the homes they created for their own families.
Tom was incredibly loyal and dependable as demonstrated by his 41 years of Service at Balch Petroleum as a Senior Project Manager. Tom Balch said of him “Tom leaves a large hole at Balch - his experience and knowledge are unmatched.”
He loved to spend his time outdoors with his wife and his dogs: going on adventures, hiking, camping, traveling, and working on his many projects. He never went halfway on any of his passions - whether it be his unfailing work ethic, installing a complex system to water his garden, to rearing his own chickens for fresh eggs to enjoy at breakfast.
Tom’s greatest passion of all was his family. He was known by them and all others for his subtle wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Tom enjoyed very loving relationships with his 7 Nephews and 4 Nieces. His sisters call him their rock, and that is who he was to all who were loved by him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel Of The Angels in Fremont at 10:30 AM. A funeral procession will then move to Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, where Tom’s body will be returned to the earth. After, a reception will be held at Campo di Bocce of Fremont to celebrate Tom’s light filled life.
