Joseph Chavez Terrasas passed away peacefully on October 29, 2019, at the age of 80 years. Born in Peoria, Arizona, on December 23, 1938, he was the oldest of his family. At a young age, the family began to follow seasonal crops to California. Together, they would move back and forth between Arizona and California, finally settling in the South Bay. Following graduation from Fremont High School (Sunnyvale), Joseph completed his AA Degree at San Jose City College. He then served four years in Hawaii in the United States Navy and reached the rank of E5. Upon his discharge, Joseph had a colorful employment history ranging from working for Lockheed Martin; to owning a florist shop; to owning a bar, then he spent a number of years teaching machine shop; and finished his career by working with youth with special needs. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ann Terrasas, and is lovingly remembered by his children, Joseph Jr., Paul, Samantha (Alex), and Stephanie (Athena, daughter); his many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and large extended family.

  1. CandleMy thoughts and prayers with the family, very sorry for your loss!

“When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?”
    ~ Christina Rosetti

  2. My sincere condolences to all of you. I know all too well the void left with Joe’s passing. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves memories no one can steal. My prayers are with you. May Joe Rest In Peace and love. Sam, hugs to you.

  3. The nicest , kindest man to have served this country in so many capacities. Took people at face value, gave the benefit of a doubt when he met anyone new. He received me very well and my children saw him as a paternal grandfather. I knew him almost 29 years and have nothing but fond memories … Love you

  4. CandleSending you and your family love and prayers during this tough time. We are sorry for your loss.🙏🏽🕯

  5. CandleYou were an uncle that showed more love than we could ever ask for. I’m happy to know you’re at rest, but you will be missed. I love you Uncle Joe and I thank you for the childhood memories and the guidance you gave me to help make me the person I am today.

  6. CandleThinking of the Terrasas family today and sending warm hugs and love. Sorry I can’t make it to the celebration this afternoon. May Joseph rest in peace and live on in all of your beautiful memories.
