Elizabeth "Betsy" Gravett

Elizabeth (Betsy) Anne Gravett , 60, of Fremont, California died peacefully on November 18, 2018. Born on April 28, 1958 in Manhattan Beach, California, the 3rd of three children to Elizabeth and Frank Seamas. She is predeceased by her daughter Katherine Marie Gravett. Betsy grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes and was an avid tennis player. She started playing tournaments at an early age and never stopped. She played on the Rolling Hills High School Tennis Team in Rolling Hills Estates. She attended Chico State and UCLA. After leaving UCLA she played on the Avon Futures and Pacific Northwest Circuits. In addition, she worked for Larry and Billie Jean King promoting professional tournaments and World Team Tennis. In 1980 Betsy met Rick and they were married in May, 1982. In 1983 Kelly was born followed by Katie in 1985. Grandson Jayden was born in 2005 and most recently Granddaughter Riley came into her life in 2018. Her tennis teaching career focused on Pee Wee’s and beginning Ladies. She had a knack for bringing out the best and just loved it. She would always come home with incredible funny stories. Some of her highlights included taking several Ladies teams to the National Championships. In 1994, Betsy, an energetic mother and talented tennis pro and instructor, was diagnosed with an aggressive, inoperable brain tumor. She endured countless rounds of chemotherapy and radiation because, as she told Rick, her husband, “I want to stick around awhile and see my girls grow up”. She always wanted to help others and really cared about people. She would always put others ahead of her because that's just the way she lived. She lived life to the fullest fighting the tumor every day. She fought until the very end. Betsy is survived by her immediate family including husband Rick, daughter Kelly, grandchildren Jayden and Riley, sister Susie Seamas and brother Frank Seamas. A Celebration of LIfe will be held on Thursday, December 6 at 2PM at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., CA 94538. Reception immediately following.
