Alfonso Jose Flores

José Alfonso Flores, beloved husband and father, passed away at 80 years of age on June 28th, 2019, at his home in Fremont California, surrounded by his family. Alfonso is survived by his wife of 59 years, María del Carmen Dominguez Flores; his eight children: José Flores, María Donato, Sara Dominguez Flores, John Flores, Blanca Flores, Rose Thomas, Isabel Merritt, and Ramón Flores; his six grandchildren: Susana Donato, Gabe Donato, Erica Donato, Jessica Flores, Ashley Thomas, and Taylor Merritt; and his four siblings: Luz Flores, Elvira Treviño, Arturo Flores, and María Espinosa. Alfonso was born on July 18th, 1938, in Coahuila, Mexico. His lifelong passion was music, and he made a successful career as a Mariachi singer and solo artist known as “El Charro Bandolero.” In his time as “El Bandolero,” Alfonso performed with music legends such as: Amalia Mendoza, Conchita Solis, Sanjuana la Reyna de los Palenques, and others, inspiring his audiences and family with his exceptional talent, and his passion for the music of Mexico. Whether it be for professional events or family gatherings, Alfonso’s goal was to bring happiness to everyone through music—enriching our lives with the beauty of his voice and his dedication to telling the stories of Mexico, and his own journey through life. Alfonso was a humble, compassionate soul who uplifted his family with his endless patience and generosity with his love. He will be lovingly remembered for his kind, gentle, caring, and loving nature—and for filling our lives with music.
