Janice Kazuye Hidalgo, dedicated mother, sister, and grandmother, 75 of Fremont, California, passed away on August 14, 2021, from lung cancer. She was born March 5, 1946 in Berkeley, California to Yoshiye and James Komatsu.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Devin Hidalgo and daughter, Danielle Johnson; her brother, Rodney Komatsu and sister Cynthia Komatsu; and her 5 grandchildren Jolie Johnson, Sofia Hidalgo, Mateo Johnson, Maddox Hidalgo and Adrianna Hidalgo.
Janice was very passionate about reading, education, civic duties, volunteering and spending quality time with her family and friends. She lived in Fremont, California for most of her adult life while traveling domestically and abroad in her later years.
Funeral Services will be held on September 3, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Chapel Of The Angels, 40842 Fremont, Blvd., Fremont, California 94538.

As you all must know, Jan lived for her family and was so proud of each of you. She always spoke about the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. I always remember her carrying a purse that had clear photo slots on the outside, so she could proudly display her family. Our WOWs group (Women of Washington) will never be the same. She will forever be in our hearts.

I was a friend of the WOW group. I met Jan at Beve Goomas’s a few years ago. She was a good friend and always willing to help anyone who needed her help. I will miss her. I send my condolences to all of her family and friends who are sad a her passing. May you find peace and comfort that she is in a good place now and out of pain. I send my love to you all.. Jan and I worked together at Washington High School. She was devoted and very successful in supporting and helping our students. Our friendship continued over the years, when we enjoyed many lunches and other events together. For me, that included many invitations to join in her family’s activities. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and I know losing her presence is very painful for them. My heart and my prayers are for their comfort, especially in knowing that Jan was such a good friend to all.
