A simple or direct cremation takes place when a client’s family determines to hold a cremation without a prior ceremony, viewing, or visitation. This means there is no extensive or invasive preparation such as embalming required. Direct cremation creates the opportunity for a family to plan a meaningful memorial service or celebration of life, with or without the loved one’s urn present. A direct cremation with Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels includes:
- The transportation from the place of passing.
- Filing all required documents with the city, county, state, and SSI.
- Holding the body in a climate-controlled environment at our personally-owned Funeral Home until the cremation is scheduled.
- Transportation to and from the crematory.
- The cremation itself and a simple urn.
Client families can select from multiple urns and their preferred form of final disposition.
With Chapel of the Angels, your loved one remains in our care – from the beginning to the end. Our staff is trained and certified to perform all cremations at our crematory. This isn’t the case with most discount cremation providers who contract cremation services to third parties.
In many instances, Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels can allow client families to be present at the crematory to witness their loved one’s cremation. Witnessed cremations are scheduled in advance and at your convenience. This service is available for an additional cost based on the crematory’s charges. Please reach out to the Chapel of the Angels Team if you have additional questions or are interested in witnessing your loved-one’s cremation.
Not at Chapel of the Angels. Our simple cremation pricing covers all costs. In addition, we can work out payment plans for pre-arranged services and accept insurance policies as a form of payment. While most discount cremation providers state that their price is guaranteed, it’s extremely important that you fully understand the contract, what’s included with the cremation, the fine print, and the payment structure.
Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels expects to complete the cremation process and be ready to fulfill the requested disposition (mailing, courier, or scattering) within 2-5 days of first being contacted for our services.
