John David Vaughan, 56, passed away in San Jose, CA on April 24, 2026 due to prolonged complications from diabetes. He was born on June 16, 1969 in Thousand Oaks, CA to Dan Pendery and Karen Vaughan.
John attended school in Ventura and Santa Paula. He went on to attend Junior High in Orange County and High school in Frenso and Sonoma County where he graduated. He then went on to attend Santa Rosa Junior College where he graduated with his A.A. Degree. John went on to work for Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority. He worked as a transit driver for 18 years and retired in 2025.
John loved music and enjoyed playing the guitars. He played in a small band in high school with his friends and continued the tradition for many years. He was fiercely loyal to family and friends. He was a big “foodie” and lived for tacos, especially “Vaughan Tacos”! Everyone enjoyed his witty sense of humor. He was a big teddy bear and was full of love. He adored his two daughters, Belinda and Lillian.
John is survived by his loving mom, Karen Anderson, step-dad Rick, his two daughters, Belinda Ilene (Reno) and Lillian Ruth (Michigan); Grandchildren, Cody Jr., Kat, and J.J.; Sisters, Lisa (Redding) and Danielle (Modesto) and many nieces and nephews and uncle Dave. He also leaves many friends at VTA as well as numerous friends from his high school days.
A memorial will be held for John at a later date.
