Kathryn Ann Coon

On August 10, 2026, Kathryn Ann Coon took God’s hand and left us. She was born Kathryn Ann McMurran on March 1, 1940 in Kentfield, California. She continued to call California home, living in Blue Lake and Mill Valley before meeting Glenn W. Coon Jr on a blind date in 1957. They were married a year later, eventually settled in Fremont, and, for 57 years, shared a loving marriage until Glenn’s passing in 2014.

Kathy was a doting mother of three children—Daryl, Kevin, and Linda. Never one to stand still for long, she was very involved in their lives. In addition, she was an interior decorator and manager with Home Interiors and Gifts, mentoring and coaching her team for success. She was very passionate about sharing the love of Jesus Christ and did so in her role as a leader for Young Life, working with high school students. She was very proud of her family connection to George Washington and the founding fathers of our nation and carried that sense of public service when she was selected as a California delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1968. In more recent years, she volunteered her time and energy with the Fremont Garden Club and Tri-City Women’s Club.

Kathy is survived by her three children (Daryl, Kevin, and Linda) and their spouses (Laura, Lorrie, and Dennis), six grandchildren (Kyle, Trevor, Heather, Brandon, Cameron, and Christopher), and seven great grandchildren (Jack, Elle, Emmy, Parker, Noah, Georgia, and Millie).

A memorial will be held at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels on 40842 Fremont Blvd. at 1:30 on August 29, 2026. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Young Life.
