Kenneth John Rasler passed away on October 7th, 2026. He was a loving husband, father grandfather, and friend to all. He was born in Vallejo, California to Hazel Thompson & John Rasler on January 21st, 1937. He grew up fishing for striped bass on the Napa River with his father and extended family members. Later in life he fished with his family out of Berkeley and on the Napa River, fishing well into his 70’s. He built boats throughout his life and the one he built with his father while in high school is still with the family.
Ken attended Vallejo public schools and graduated from Chapman College in June of 1958 with a degree in economics; he was part of the first generation in his family to attend college. He married Marilyn Helen Immekar on December 30th, 1956, and they spent a beautiful life together until her passing in 2019.
Ken spent 35 years as a well-liked community banker in Fremont and around the bay area. His church community was a very important part of his life, and he sang in the church choir. He was a lifelong environmentalist and a long-time member of the Save the San Francisco Bay Association. He loved to watch the fish use the ladders put in place by the Alameda Creek Alliance, in person and via video feed. He cherished the variety of wildlife outside his breakfast-nook window, feeding them every morning like clockwork. Throughout his life he grew into a real passion for social justice, which included supporting indigenous communities through groups like the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust.
Friends knew of his sweet tooth and love of good (or sometimes not so good) joke. He enjoyed spending time with his family; dancing with his wife, watching his granddaughter Samantha perform and his granddaughter, Clio, signing (ASL).
Ken is survived by his daughters, Lisa Rasler of Oakland and Beth Rasler of Fremont; Granddaughters, Samantha Rasler of Fremont and Clio Rasler of Oakland. He would like to be remembered by his principles for life: Love, Truth, Knowledge and the Golden Rule.
A celebration of life will be held at Niles Discovery Church on Monday, November 16th, 2026 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Niles Discovery Church, The Sogoea Te’ Land Trust, The Cousteau Society or Planned Parenthood.

I feel like I have lost a good friend, even though I have not seen him for a while. He was such a common sense and fun guy to be around. He and his wife, Marilyn, loved to swim and we had such nice long talks there may his soul rest in peace. You were a good man, Ken.
