Dennis Merle Seese, age 71, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 27, 2023, from complications associated with myotonic dystrophy. Dennis was born in Akron Ohio on February 1, 1951. His family moved to California in 1955 and settled in Fremont CA in 1957. Dennis graduated from Washington HS in 1969 and received a BS in Bio-Chemistry from Cal-Poly at San Luis Obispo in 1976. He held various positions in different industries including oil refining, winemaking, substitute teaching and energy auditing. He had a bit of wanderlust in his soul that included backpacking in Jasper National Park Canada, hiking the Grand Canyon, numerous trips to visit family in Ohio and occasional trips to Hawaii and Washington DC. He was also handy, which was necessary to keep his 1963 Volvo running for over 200,000 miles. He also enjoyed contra dancing. But Dennis real passion was music. He was self-taught and excelled at playing the guitar and violin. He played in different bands throughout his life, and when his myotonic dystrophy progressed and his muscles would no longer allow him to play, he continued his creative instinct and wrote musical scores. The highlight of this effort was a recital of his compositions by an orchestral group at Hidden Valley Music Seminars, Carmel Valley CA in 2010. Dennis was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was a passionate and giving individual with a deep love of family.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father Maynard Grant Seese (1964), mother Margaret Elizabeth Seese (2014), sister Nancy Anne Seese (2021) and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by brother-in-law Bernard Cleyet (Salinas CA) and cousins Linda North (Fairfield OH), Larry Anderson (Pacifica CA), David Dilley (Dayton OH), David Anderson (Santa Fe NM), Diane Pyle (Heath OH), Sally Biggins (Cuyahoga Falls OH), Mark Anderson (Kent OH), and Denise Schaffner (Akron OH).
Rest in Peace Dennis🕊️
To one of my oldest, dearest friends from grade school way back in the 50’s. You were always a kind, caring, and talented guy. The last years of your life were a great struggle which you did not deserve. Rest in peace my friend.
I wished Dennis would have had a better quality of life in his later years. Dennis, you are now free and in peace. My friend, I will miss your humor and kindness but know I am a better person for knowing you.
