April 26, 1961 ~ February 13, 2022
Born in:
Oka, Tamuning, Guam
Resided in:
Milpitas, California
John Joseph Garrido was born on April 26,1961 to loving parents, Joaquin and Concepcion Garrido. John was the first of 5 children.
At the age of 60, my Tata passed away on the morning of February 13, 2022. John was born in Guam then later moved to California where he decided to settle for life. He married his best friend and wife, Lilly Garrido, and was a father to two children, Sonia and John Jr.
If you asked a hundred people who John Joseph Garrido was, you would get a hundred different responses. A hard worker. A giver. A best friend. A poker player. A fisherman. Brave, strong, selfless. But to John and his loved ones, his biggest role was that of a family man, father, and much-adored TATA (grandfather).
John’s world changed when his first grandson, Sevanthony was born, and two years later his big boy Jojo (Joseph). I was named after him. Invigorated by their arrival he spoiled them rotten and every moment they spent together filled them with joy and life-long happiness. Over a decade later, Jaxon, Mariah and Maleah arrived. More than anything he loved his grandchildren so much, they became his reason to get up in the morning. Whether it be to go watch their baseball games or drive all the way to Santa Cruz to watch them race. We had fun traveling, eating out, and just playing at home. We could always count on him being there before we could even ask. His hobby and full-time job was to be the best Tata anyone ever had for nothing in return. He was our biggest fan.
He was a mechanical genius, who specialized in air conditioning repairs and could fix or build anything he wanted to. He loved to build, cook, crack jokes, and he was a professional napper. As long as he was doing something with or for his family he was happy. His generosity and kindness knew no bounds. He will be greatly missed by his beloved Gorda, children, and grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife Lilly, children Sonia & husband Severino, John Jr.& wife MaryJoyce, grandchildren Sevanthony, Jojo, Jaxon, Mariah and Maleah, mother Conception, brother Kenneth & wife Suzette, Sisters Eleanor(Ellie), Connie & husband Timothy and many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his father Joaquin, sister Joanne, and grandson Pudge.

You were my first friend at my first job after the Navy. You never even got upset with me after finding out I dated your cousin Valentina while I was in Guam. Jk! You never believed me until Kenny figured it out.
You have helped me learn and grow you
Guided and Mentored me, your were my right hand on many jobs I always knew I could count on you .
You always answered my call even when you were busy or had you own issues.
I only ever seen you half way upset and that was at the other white boy!
Some of my first tools I got from you, I still got the tool box with your name and social on it!
I could go on and on about memories and the times over the last 30 years.
You’ve done so much for so many because thats who you are and God truly blessed us with you my Brother I Thank you for all you’ve done for me.
If this isn’t grammatically correct? I apologize to all reading it. I can hardly see through my tears you never know how losing a true friend feels until it’s upon you.
I pray for

John and I met while working at Apple and our connection was the beautiful island of Guam. We shared our stories about living on Guam, the culture, the food and about our families.
John was kind enough to send me some Guamanian food and photos of Guam after I moved to Las Vegas. I truly enjoyed our conversations as John was a very kind person.
You will be missed my friend. I will surely visit you and pay my respects on my next trip to CA.
Si Yu’us un binendise.
