Toyoko (Furuya) Fujita April 20, 1928 - November 2, 2018 Resided in Fremont, CA Toyoko Fujita, 90, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 in Washington Hospital, Fremont surrounded by her family and friends following a brief illness. Born April 20, 1928 in Moji, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan she was a devoted member of the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church in Union City, CA. Toyoko lived a long and beautiful life full of family, friends and love. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Harry for 67 years until his passing on July 9, 2016. She was also a loving and proud Mother and Grandmother. Toyoko is survived by her daughter Naomi (Mike) Wallace, Fremont; her son Keith (Naomi) Fujita, San Ramon; and her grandchildren Talia Fujita, Oakland and Jordan Fujita, San Ramon. Toyoko and Harry raised their children in Okinawa, Japan where Harry served the United States Department of Defense as a Political Liaison between the Governments of the United States and Japan for nearly 45 years before retiring to Fremont where they resided since 1994. While living in Okinawa Toyoko was not only a dedicated homemaker but also happily entertained many Okinawan, Japanese, and American dignitaries and military personnel along with Harry. In her youth Toyoko was a wonderful singer and enjoyed watching Japanese TV especially variety shows in her later years. Toyoko and Harry loved to travel. They loved visiting relatives in Hawaii and took many family vacations there when Naomi and Keith were growing up. They traveled throughout the U.S. including Alaska as well as the East Coast and enjoyed their trips to Aliquippa, PA where they made many lasting friendships over the years. Toyoko was a beautiful lady with a kind heart and graceful, quiet demeanor. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. In accordance with her wishes private services were held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Chapel of the Angels in Fremont. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made, if desired to the Washington Hospital Foundation, the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
