Allene Edith Russell

Allene 'Bunnie ' Russell passed away at home Friday February 19 at the age of 86. She is survived by her children Tracey Slate and Scott Russell, their respective spouses Stanford Slate Jr. and Jin Russell, three grandchildren, Elizabeth Slate, Lilly Russell and Audrey Russell. Preceded in death by her husband James Russell and her father Robert Flood, mother Winifred Flood and brother Bob Flood. Bunnie was born in Atlanta GA and spent her early childhood in Cambridge MA Moved to San Francisco in the 40's. A graduate of Balboa High School and San Francisco State University. She met Jim in high school and they married in 1952 and celebrated 52 years of blissful marriage. They settled in to Fremont in 1960 to raise their family. She was homemaker and devoted mother for most of her life. An excellent cook she became a re test cook at Sunset magazine. She loved to travel. She was a gifted artist and dabbled in photography. She was an avid snow skier, enthusiastic tap dancer, played tennis, enjoyed bridge and recently took up Mahjong. Staying active and connected kept her lively and young at heart. Her social life was busy and fulfilling. She was a devoted and proud grandmother. Grandy to 'her girls', attending swim meets, water polo games, and recitals.The love she shared with them will be greatly missed. Bunnie leaves behind an extended family whom she loved deeply and friends she treasured. We will miss her everyday. A memorial service is being planned.
