Angela(Volpe)Marshall, passed suddenly on November 15th, 2018 in San Jose, California.
Lina's journey to the United States started in 1955 when her family moved from Genova, Italy to San Jose California. Her journey was a long and treacherous one, that took ten days. She never forgot that experience, being a child that suffered from motion sickness. Angela traveled on the Andrea Doria with her father and arrived to the United States through New York Harbor. The following year was the year the Andrea Doria sank in New York. She often reminisced of the journey.
During her life in San Jose, she fostered many loving and memorable relationships. She attended Notre Dame High School and then graduated from San Jose State University. Angela, also known to family and close friends as Lina taught for over 37 years in the Oak Grove School District. Those years were split between Bernal and Davis Junior High Schools. She loved teaching and the joy that students brought her. One special event among the many was the yearly Christmas Caroling that she took her Spanish classes on. They would sing in the community and always made sure to visit the convalescent homes in the area.
Angela spoke five languages and was always interested in cultures and learning. She made sure to instill the importance of family, culture and languages to her children. Angela adored spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them Italian. She loved many things in life, among them cooking and gardening, but nothing made her more happy than to travel and experience each cultures uniqueness. The ocean was one of her favorite places to be.
She is survived by her husband, Rick Marshall, sister Laila Volpe, cousin Silvana Volpe(John), son Aldo Chavez(Cathy), daughter Lidia Segoviano(Nicolas) Stepsons, Beau and Danny Marshall, her best friend Claudette, five Grandchildren and extended family in Italy.
