Arlene Claire Gonsalves, of Fremont, Ca., died January 15, 2015 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She was 76. Arlene was born October 3, 1938 to George and Evelyn Perry in Oakland, Ca. She graduated from Holy Names High School in 1956. In 1960, she married Robert (Bob) Gonsalves of Wailuku, Maui, and lived in Mission San Jose from 1961 to 2013. Together they had four children; Cynthia, Robert Jr., Robin, and Steven. Arlene enjoyed community service working with civic groups that included Children's Home Society of California, Washington Hospital Service League, St. Joseph's Parish Ladies Guild, and Sister John Marie's Pantry. Her professional career included three years at the Alameda County Probation Department and 20 years with Nalley's Fine Foods. Arlene is survived by her four children, her brother George, and eight grandchildren; Shaughn Marie, Mallory, Kelly, Corey, Ryann, Casey, Aleia and Hunter. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Thursday January 22nd at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels in Fremont with a Rosary and memorial to follow at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Friday, January 23rd at St. Joseph's Parish in Fremont with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. Memorial donations may be made in Arlene's name to Sister John Marie's Pantry c/o St. Joseph's Parish.
