Benny Lavon Smith, II, born August 8, 1952, passed away in the morning on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the age of 60.
Born to Ben and Peg Smith, Benny is survived by his loving wife, Pam; children Jordan, Ivetth, and baby granddaughter, Avery; sons Ryan and Derek; siblings Dave, Megan, and Holly; and beloved dog, Oso.
A mentor to many people throughout his life, Benny most cherished his family and loved his friends as if they were family. Some of his fondest memories were while he was serving as a missionary for the LDS church in Buenos Aires, Argentina, diving for abalone in Gualala, playing hearts with friends at the cabin, and riding his Harley motorcycle everywhere in between. Benny was proud to be an American and a 49er fan. As his father said, his life was fascinating to watch.
Viewing will be held on Friday, July 12th from 2-8 PM at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont BLvd, Fremont, CA. Services will honor Benny on Saturday, July 13th at 11 AM at the LDS Church on 1655 Noreen Dr., San Jose, CA 95124. A Luncheon will
follow.
Bikers Prayer
Biker angel be my guide
As I climb upon my scoot to ride
Let your halo light the way
And keep me safe from harm today
Let your wings provide me wind and air
And send it coursing through my hair
Find me a peaceful sunny place
And let it shine upon my face
Keep the clouds and rain at bay
And keep me dry throughout the day
Watch over my brothers who ride with me
Keep them safe and close to thee
Keep my wheels upon the ground
So I'll return here safe and sound
But should disaster be my fate
Guide me through to Heaven's gate
If I must join my fallen brethren
Please show me the way to Biker Heaven
Miss you already Benny.

Thank you God for Benny… One of your most loving, kind, benevolent, and altruistic angels to walk among us on this earth; To call my dear friend and love as my brother. His only traits bigger than sincere care and generosity towards others, was his infinite gift to forgive and love everyone for who they are. We could always sense the best in ourselves from the warmth in his voice and the mirror of kindness reflected in his eyes. You are home with God now Benny. Thank you for richly blessing my life and for all of the happy, gut-busting memories locked in my heart until we meet again. My heart and prayers go out to Pam, your children, and family; May the peace of God’s infinite Love heal your hearts quickly.
My friend since 1974…. Benny defined kindness. Love and miss you, brother.
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your dear loved one. Take comfort in knowing that our heavenly Creator will soon remove all pain, suffering, sorrow, and death forever! May this promise be of comfort as you gain the strength and inner peace to cope with the days ahead. Revelation 21:3,4 Philippians 4:13
Lots of good memories! Boating, skiing, and 4 wheeling. One in particular stands out in my mind. I was your co- pilot in the Mud In Your Eye obstacle contest. We jumped on the teeter totter platform in the Bronco and held our balance! We won that category that weekend and I’ll never forget it! Fun times! I will miss you always.
So very sorry to hear of you loss. He was a really great guy. Please take good care of yourself. Our thoughts are with you. Remember, the Lord is looking out for you now and always. Lots of love…….Linda Fairband Phillips
Wish you were here to play with Avery and Joseph…
