While in the comfort of family members, Bonnie Jean Gion took her final train ride home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2013. She was born in the town of Stapleton, Nebraska on February 26, 1927, to James and Ethel Ash and was the youngest of four children. She lost her parents at the age of 3, and was raised by Aunt Elsie and Uncle Harold Hubbard in a one room farmhouse in the Nebraska sand hills. December 20, 1945 she met her life-long husband, Donald Gion, who was home on leave from the Navy. They were married June 22, 1946 in Overton, Kansas. They shared the love of the Navy life for the next 30 years, traveling back and forth across the U.S. every two years. Their final military station landed them in Fremont, California with two daughters in hand in June 1961. Bonnie was a stay at home mom who loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, the Raiders and the A's and was a member of Irvington Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered as a caring, kind and loving woman who loved all of her family equally. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on July 5, 2003. She is survived by her daughters Dawn (John) Lunn and Starr (Lynn) Long, Grandchildren Christina (Jamey) Carson-Mossinger, Sean (Ilena) Carson, Paul (Sandi) Avila, Amy (Tony) Stoopin, Eric (Kellie) Lunn and Leisa Lee. Great grandchildren Kailie, Elijah, Emily, Alexsandr, Nicolai, Siena, Angelique, Sofia and Johnnie, and her beloved pets Phydeaux and Buddy. Memorial services will be 11 AM July 13, 2013 at Irvington Presbyterian Church. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Fremont Animal Shelter.
