Bruno Orsetti

Bruno passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Washington Hospital in Fremont on February 21, 2013. Born in Staffoli, Italy (Prov. of Pisa) on March 5, 1921, he came to California at the age of 18 months with his mother, Brunetta Guerazzi Orsetti, to join his father, Giovanni Orsetti. Bruno lived his early years in South San Francisco, then his family moved to Alvarado and lastly to the Centerville district of Fremont. The family grew truck crop vegetables to market in Oakland and San Francisco. He graduated from Washington High School in Fremont and while working full time for the Union City schools and Chabot College supporting his family, he earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, East Bay in Spanish. He met and married Florence Downing from Tulsa, Oklahoma on the dance floor of a summer picnic given by the Oakland Produce Market. They married soon after. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Florence, his three children Bill Orsetti of Virginia Beach, VA, Louise Orsetti Leck of Fremont, Jim Orsetti of Pleasanton, and his sister Anita Fantuzzi of Sparks, NV. In his 33 years of retirement, he loved reading, cooking, painting, traveling, gardening, and special family occasions. Recently he had been composing his life memoirs in a writing class for senior citizens with the intention of publishing them. Family and friends are invited to a 1:00 P.M.
