A loving son, husband, father, brother, and uncle. A cherished friend, selfless volunteer, and dedicated a Secret Service Agent, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at the age of sixty-five.
Born on September 7, 1959, in San Jose, CA, Christopher grew up with a deep sense of duty, honor and compassion. These values guided him throughout his life and career.
Christopher was a devoted father and husband who adored his two children: Brent and Mickena. His love for his family was boundless, he treasured time spent together, whether on a family adventure or quiet moments at home. As a friend, Christopher was a beacon of kindness and loyalty, always ready with a listening ear or helping hand.
Christopher was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University Executive Leadership Program and Sacramento State University. He served with unwavering dedication in his early career with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and United States Marshal Service. These roles led to his 27-year career with the United States Secret Service, protecting others with courage and integrity. He retired from the Secret Service in 2013 and continued his commitment to service at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and as an adjunct professor at La Sierra University.
A lifelong advocate for service, Christopher was deeply involved with National Ski Patrol. His love for the outdoors and his commitment to helping others made him a valued member of the organization, where he spent countless hours ensuring the safety and well being of fellow skiers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Christopher is survived by his mother, Patricia Butler, his wife Felicia Butler, his children Brent and Mickena and his siblings, Scott Butler, Shawn Butler, Georgeann Berzansky and Shannon Antepenko. Chris was also a loving uncle to twelve nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Patrick Butler.
His memory will be honored not only as a protector and father but as a hero who embodied selflessness and compassion.
A memorial service will be held on January 25th at 11:00 AM at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels in Fremont, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
