David Ellis Black, 70, passed away on July 5, 2026, joyfully entering into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. David was a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, step-father, step-grandfather, great step-grandfather, great-great step-grandfather, and friend to many. He was born in Waco, Texas, and was a long-time resident of Fremont. David is preceded by his mother and father, William and Barbara Black. He was the third of five children. His father served in the Air Force, which led David to spend his childhood moving across several states, including Texas, California, Nebraska, and finally Massachusetts. David graduated from Holyoke High School in 1974, and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Electronics from Holyoke Community College in 1976. Following his education, he returned to California, beginning a long career working for several companies in the Bay Area, including Apple Computer and LAM Research Corporation.
After many years of searching, David met and married the love of his life, Violet Andrade. They married on January 26, 2019. The Andrade family welcomed David with open arms and became his second family. Their marriage exemplified one with an intense passion for one another and included a strong sense of authenticity, humility, and love. They shared a once in a lifetime kind of love. A love that shone brightly for those who had the opportunity to behold the beauty of their relationship. The Andrade family will forever cherish his loving kind gently spirit, generosity, laughter, and competitive spirit. Although their time together was short, David cherished the time he had with Violet, and they are now together in eternity.
David was deeply involved in several of Harbor Light Church’s ministry groups, including Hearing God, Uplift, and Living Fearless. He also regularly supported and served Feeding the Homeless and attended the Senior Center. David is survived by his siblings William Black Jr, Jennifer Smith (Edwin), Elizabeth Black (Alan), and Ross Black; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 4 grandnieces, 1 grandnephew, 5 step-sons, 4 step- daughters, 16 step-grandchildren, 12 great step-grandchildren, and 4 great-great step-grandchildren. David’s memory will live on through his family and friends, whose lives have been enriched by his unwavering love and support.
Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday August 14, 2026, at 11am at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont. Proceeding the Celebration of Life service will be a lunch reception at Billy Roy’s BURGER CO., 3909 Thornton Ave, Fremont.
