April 17, 1958 ~ October 1, 2020

Resided in: Livermore, California

On October 1, 2020, Dayal Singh Chahal was called home at the age of 62. The world has lost a great son, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and leader.

Dayal was born in Tavua, Fiji Islands on April 17, 1958 to father Subran Singh Chahal and mother Raj Kaur Chahal. The youngest of five children, Dayal’s vigor and capacity for mischief and merriment kept his family constantly laughing throughout his youth. His work ethic and desire for a better life led to him immigrating to the United States.

Dayal has been referred to as the “Best dressed Indian gentleman with a British twang” the world has ever seen. He lived largely, traveled the world, loved to laugh, embraced everyone, and was the friend everyone called. If you asked Dayal, his greatest accomplishment wasn’t his success in business or his career, it was being a father and grandfather.

Dayal Singh Chahal is survived by his two sisters, brother, and their spouses; many nieces and nephews; daughter Jasmeer Basi, son-in-law Rajind Basi, and granddaughter Avani Basi. He was preceded in death by his daughters Rashmeer Chahal and Kushmeer Chahal.

“To the world you are a dad and a grandpa. To our family you are the world.”
