In this season of holiday cheer, our home is filled with tears as we mourn the loss of Dr. Dhirendra Deb Choudhury, 87. He passed away peacefully at 3:35 am on December 23, 2019 with the help of doctors and nurses at Stanford Hospital.
Dr. Choudhury was a well-known physician in his hometown Sunamgonj, Bangladesh. Famously known as “the doctor for the poor (Daktar Babu)”,  he treated every patient equally regardless of their ability to pay. As an advocate for education, he set up multiple missions for the underprivileged to attend school and have a safe place to live.
This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on everyone’s hearts and will be immensely missed. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, joyful laugh, and his never-ending love for family.
Dr. Dhirendra Choudhury is survived by wife Lila Choudhury; his children Mukta, Mita, Mimi, Dhiman, Dipu;   Children-in-law Alak, Santosh, Dileep, Shathi, Munmun; grandchildren Trisha, Tanaya, Sanjoy, Souham, Dibyo, Aria, Arjun, Dristi, Dipto; grandson-in-law Jagan and great-grandson Jashan.  Along with members of the Sunamgonj, Bangladesh community.
Funeral and cremation services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 11:30 at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel Of The Angels.
