June 17, 1937 ~ May 18, 2020
Born in: Boston, MA
Resided in: Fremont, CA
It is with great sadness that the family of Dolores Stedman Meyers announces her passing on Monday, May 18, 2020, in Fremont, CA. She was 82 years old.
Dolores will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters Tamra Stedman, Dora Edwards & Carole Stedman, her sister Anna Romero and many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was born in Boston, MA on June 17, 1937, the youngest of 9 children. Her parents, Joseph de Francis (Franca) and Rose Sardinha came through Ellis Island around 1920 from Funchal, Madeira in Portugal to Boston then came to Oakland, CA by train after the war in 1945.
Shortly after high school in Oakland, Dolores was a ballroom dance instructor at Arthur Murray dance studios in Vallejo before moving to San Francisco. She retired from Pacific Bell with 35 years.
She got married in December of 1957 and had three children, that she raised by herself. She loved & adored her girls and did everything for them. She was a well-liked and very loved aunt, friend, and neighbor. She enjoyed playing bridge and Mahjong at the senior center with her friends and loved her granddogs Greta and Halle tremendously, as well as all of the cats she had over the years. She was a huge animal lover and spoiled every pet she ever had, as well as any that visited. They always left a little heavier than when they came. She was the most loving, kind, beautiful soul and was loved by everyone. She was hands down the most generous, selfless person you could possibly ever meet. She will be forever missed by everyone who knew her. We love you mom, forever.
She was a sweet friendly person.
Our condolences
Sincerely,
Arlene Sweat, Julie Regan and Family
Love you Aunt Dolores
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.
You were blessed with a special mom. She was kind, loving and beautiful ( inside and out). I loved her smile, it was electrifying! She will definitely be missed. Find comfort in knowing she is resting in heaven now. You will forever have memories In your hearts that will last a lifetime.
May God be with you during these difficult times🙏🏼💕
They had an amazing Mother/Daughter relationship and a wonderful friendship. Carole was always there for her whenever she needed anything. I am so sorry for your loss. I send my condolences to you and your sisters.
Love, Rose
Delores was the sweetest person, and she always had hugs, kisses, and warm hellos whenever I’d visit her daughter, Carole. This was true even when she wasn’t feeling herself, which is something I always appreciated — and looked forward to — and will always remember about Delores. Her warmth is a rare and welcome thing nowadays, and it’s just one of the many things that made her special, and why we’ll miss her so much!
I, like everyone else in your life, will never ever forget you. You have one of the most kind and gentle soul of anyone I know. I didn’t get to see you to often towards the end but I thought of you so very often and I’m so grateful that you’re now out of pain. I promise to take care of your sweet daughter as I’m sure you know her heart is broken. You were both so very lucky to have each other in this lifetime.
Rest easy sweet woman….And I’ll see you when my time is up.❣❣❣
We talked often, I will miss her calls and visiting her. I love you aunt Dolores I will never forget you

Webster’s dictionary needs to have a picture of my Aunt Dolores with the definition as :genuinely compassionately, friendly, person that makes you feel comfortable, person you want to converse with. If I could only hang out with my Aunt Dolores once again on a
San Francisco Night.
My great aunt Delores was such a beautiful person. She meant the world to all of us. Such an important person in my moms life. We will miss you greatly. She gave a quilt to Mila a few months ago and Mila always plays on it. We will cherish it a little more now.
I wish we could have seen you, not just one, but many more times. You were always so kind, so sweet, so ready to listen, smile and laugh gently when we spoke. I genuinely enjoyed talking with you because I could tell that you genuinely enjoyed hearing what I had to say. You were very special, and I remember many interactions with you that always left me feeling warm and loved. I will miss you very much,
Love, Amber
