Dorothy Elward was born on July 13, 1922 in Austin, Minnesota to Peter and Gertrude Haffner. She had completed five years as a secretary when she married Don, a former classmate. They were married on January 8, 1945 when Don returned from a tour of duty in the South Pacific. They became proud parents of five children. In 1970 they moved to Fremont and enrolled in St. Leonard's Parish. With parenting years completed, Dorothy could continue her career goal which resulted in 17 years at Fremont Bank as Personnel Director. Dorothy often referred to her three satisfying careers which were parenting, banking and retirement.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Diane Elward, son Lee (Pat) Elward, Steve (Judith) Elward and Scott Elward and 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews Mary Jo and Don Wolfe and Jim (Val) Clough and Susan Clough. In 1984 husband Don lost his life to ALS. She was also preceded by son John and daughter-in-law Raenelle Elward, brother Don Haffner, sister Shirley and brother-in-law Bob Wolfe, sister-in-law Kathleen and brother-in-law Duane Clough.
A Memorial Celebration will be Monday February 22, 2016 at 10 AM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 41933 Blacow Rd, Fremont, CA. 94538.
