Douglas Whitcomb Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on August 23, 2016, at the age of 87. He succumbed to a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Doug was born on March 5, 1929, in Worchester, Massachusetts, the youngest of three siblings. He spent his youth in New England and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. Doug was proud of his service in the United States Air Force, and ultimately retired as a Captain from the Air Force Reserve. Doug pursued a successful career as a real estate broker for 30 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, and married his beloved wife, Betty, in June of 1997. Doug enjoyed singing with a barbershop quartet, the 'Ding a Lings,' loved to make people laugh, and was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He will be deeply missed by his wife Betty, and his five children from a prior marriage, Doug Whitcomb III, Teresa Pahler, Suzanne Whitcomb, Andrea Symonds and Cynthia Napierkowski. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on October 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Boulevard, Fremont, California.
