Elaine Marie Kenney passed away on June 22, 2022 at the age of 82. She was born on August 24, 1939 to Clarence and Alvina Pine in Niles, CA where she was a lifelong resident.

Elaine is survived by her beloved husband Alan Kenney. Elaine and Alan first met and were high school sweethearts before eventually getting married on June 21, 1965 in Reno, NV. She is also survived by her sons Michael and wife, Liza of Fremont and John of Fremont; brother and sister-in-law tom and Pat Kenney, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elaine worked at a local credit union and 46 Counties Carpenters Apprentice Program in Pleasanton. She was a lifelong resident of Niles, CA and was very proud of that heritage. She grew up swimming in the creek through Niles Canyon and attending Washington high school where she met her future husband, Alan. Some of Elaine’s favorite past times included her social life at the Fremont Elks Lodge, reading, science fiction and murder mysteries, cooking for family and friends. She also had a soft spot for cats and dogs and always had at least one cat living with her at all times.

Funeral services for Elaine will be held on July 16, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538.

  1. CandleAlan and family . I read with sadness at the passing of Elaine… I also grew up in Niles and had known her all my life!! My feeling for her and her illness gives me peace that she is at peace now .. no more pain … may you fine comfort from all of the family .. my love to you Alan … I can see us playing in the school yard .. jacks in the hall.. and all fun things we did …the parade we had with our pets!!! she had a great life with you and her sons and animal’s….my sincerest condolences to all.

  3. So sorry to hear of Elaine’s passing. First met at the probie party at their house in Dec. 1969. Were together at many Fire department and Elk functions. She will be missed by many. Our love to Al and his family.
