AMSBAUGH FRANK DONALD 'DON' AMSBAUGH May 31, 1924-February 12, 2016 Truly a native Californian, Don Amsbaugh was born in San Francisco, California on May 31, 1924. Don graduated from Mission High School (S.F.) in 1942. Following his high graduation, Don enlisted in the Navy and was attached to the Marines as a Medic during WWII. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1950 with a degree in Bacteriology. He purchased Fremont Medical Laboratory in 1959 and moved his young family to Fremont. Don was a prominent member of the Fremont Community. He served as President of Washington Township Hospital Board of Directors and Washington Hospital Foundation, served on the Board of Directors for the Ohlone College Foundation and served as President of Niles Rotary Club. He was a member of the Masonic Order, Fremont Chamber of Commerce and Washington Township Men's Club, as well as several professional and recreational organizations. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Barbara 'Babs' Amsbaugh. He is survived by Joy D. Amsbaugh, his wife, his three children, Scott (Meredith), Linda Noël (David) and Jon (Linda), seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and step-son Stephen MacFarlane (Kimberly) and his family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Washington Hospital West Auditorium.
