Geraldine Teresa Esparza

Gerry passed away after a valiant battle with ALS. She touched many lives with her gentle spirit and positive outlook on life. Gerry was born in San Jose, Ca. and graduated from Notre Dame High School. She earned a degree in nursing from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico and from Evergreen Valley College in San Jose. Gerry worked at Agnews State Hospital in San Jose for eight years. Afterwards, Gerry transferred to the California School for the Deaf and Blind in Fremont, California. She worked there for twenty years. Gerry is survived by her loving husband Richard Doberstein and her son Andrew Doberstein. Her loving parents, Mary and Lester Esparza, and brothers Lester and Michael also survive her. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Gerry's life on Saturday, July 28 at 12 Noon at Mission Springs Community Church at 48989 Milmont Dr., Fremont, Ca. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to support the two children Gerry sponsored through the humanitarian organization Compassion International.
