Herbert John Garnsey

herbert garnsey
Herbert 'Bud' Garnsey, resident of Fremont for 53 years, passed away peacefully on Tues, Dec 9th at the age of 90. Bud is survived by his daughters, Janet Mercer of Everett, WA and Cathy Hoyt of Cheney, KS and their spouses, his sister June Hagebusch of Phoenix, AZ, 5 grown grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 66 years Jean, and their other daughter, Donna Smith. Bud was born and reared in Chicago, IL but moved to the Bay Area in 1961 where he worked as an electrical foreman for the Naval Supply Center in Oakland until his retirement in 1986. A devoted Christian, family man, and dog-lover, Bud was an accomplished sailor who was often spotted at Lake Elizabeth in his younger days. He served in WWII from 1943-1945 in both Europe and the Pacific and loved to tell stories of his days as an amphibious vehicle 'DUKW' driver. May your kind, gentle soul rest in peace... and give Jean a big hug from all of us who loved her too. Services to be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, Monday, December 15th at 10 am.
