Hipolito "Polito" Martinez

Hipolito “Polito” Martinez passed away peacefully on April 7, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born to Hipolito and Herminia Martinez in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 16, 1928. Polito has been a resident of Fremont since 1962.

Polito is survived by his beloved wife Maria. They were married in 1955 and have shared 67 wonderful years together. Polito is also survived by six of his children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Polito was a loving brother to Delia Garcia and Gloria Martinez. Polito was predeceased by his daughter Sylvia.

Polito was an active member of the former St. Leonards Church that is now Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was a member if the Knights of Columbus #2692, American GI Forum of the USA, Guadalupano Group of St. Leonards, and Operating Engineers Local #3. Polito was a World War 2 veteran that served in both the Marines and Army.

Some of Polito’s favorite past times included golfing, watching boxing, cooking family meals including Turkey on thanksgiving or assisting Maria in making Tamales.

A viewing will be taking place at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels located at 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538 on April 19^th from 5-8 PM with a Vigil Service at 6:30 PM. Mass will take place the following day at Our Lady of Guadalupe located at 41933 Blacow Rd, Fremont, CA 94538 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery.
