Fremont resident for 53 years, died on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Kaiser Hospital. He was 88.
Born in Stratford, OK, Ivan served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was proud to be employed most of his life as a Teamster driving a truck then later as a lumber handler till he retired. He was a Golden State Warriors and SF Giants fan. He enjoyed bowling leagues and Match Club at Cloverleaf Family Bowl.
He is survived by his son Ivan L. Fischer; daughter Patti Bingham and her husband Don Bingham; grandson DJ Bingham; sisters Pat Miller, Sharon Jacobson and her husband Bill Jacobson; brother Garlin Fischer.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 8:00pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Berge, Pappas, Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538. A private family burial will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA 95322.
I enjoyed the time I got to know Ivan. And enjoyed many visits with him. He was a good man.
My husband Dennis (Garlin’s son) had many lovely stories of his Uncle Ivan from when he stayed with him in Fremont while attending classes in San Francisco. He’ll be greatly missed.
