Jess Loya Jr., Born in Madera, Ca and longtime Fremont, Ca resident passed away on Feb. 18th, 2023 at the age of 80. He is preceded in death by his Father Jess Loya Sr and Mother Rose Avila. Jess was second oldest of 13 children; Richard Avila, Frank Loya, Tommy Loya, Evelyn Rocha (Loya), Larry Ramirez. Olga Ramirez (Olivares), Rick Ramirez, Ron Ramirez, Roseann Ramirez, Sally Martinez (Flores), Henry Martinez and Jaclyn Quintera-Silvera and has many Nephews, Nieces and Cousins.

Jess graduated from Washington High in 1960 and was drafted into the U.S. Army serving from 1966-1968, in 1967, he fought in the Vietnam War with the 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. After serving our country Jess went on to start a successful and well known roofing business. He was well known and became friends with many of his customers as owner of Jess Loya Roofing for over 30 years.

He also spent much of his time serving in various leadership positions as a member of the Mission San Jose I.D.E.S. Council #1. He was in charge of Council #1 Annual Festa’s at at Mission San Jose/St. Joseph’s Church and he also organized many of the 4th of July Parades in Fremont. His later years were spent tending to his garden with his companion, helping other Veterans navigate through the VA system and spending time on his computer.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538. Burial will be on March 9, 2023 at 11 AM at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, 2900 Parker Flats Cut Off Rd, Seaside, CA 93955.

I’ve known Jess for many yes yet I lot touch with him yes ago we both were members Robert B Demello VFW he was a strong decent caring loving man he had a quality that no man I’ve ever known or ever will he was very devoted to his church & those around him he was my best friend even when I’d had my daughter he was always there to lend a hand my parents the Dugals Warren & Florence our granny & my aunt & uncle Eugene & Dorthy Mae along with many friends called him family Jess now is with all of those whom have gone he’s amongst the Angels until we meet again in heaven ill always love you rem ‘ that 🪽🪶🪽
