John D. Arteaga

Long-time Fremont resident John Arteaga passed away peacefully at his home on June 26, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents Domingo and Irene and his sister, Diana. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rachel; his siblings Annamarie (Fresno, CA), Susan (Fresno, CA), Richard (Fresno, CA), Luis (wife, Karen, Sacramento, CA); his Godson and nephew Nicholas Arteaga (Fresno, CA) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was especially fond of his baby sister-in-law Waldina Valencia (husband, Miguel, San Marcos, CA).

John was an excellent golfer, an avid runner, an exceptional tennis player and an all-around good guy. With steely determination, he could build or fix anything. He gladly helped those in need (including our canine and feline friends) and was known to help ducklings cross the street.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – a beautiful sunrise/sunset, the sound of birds chirping, the bloom of a flower, the pitter patter of rain on the roof. He loved his home and his neighborhood.

He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
