Katherine Marie Keister
April 20, 1963 ~ October 18, 2021
Resided in:
Fremont, California
On October 18, 2021, Kathy Keister left on a new journey where she will not be returning to us. Her new journey takes her to a wonderful place with amazing food and drinks. Sites and adventures to behold, where her cancer and pain are gone. She will be socializing, relaxing, shopping, wine tasting, decorating, riding her old bike, playing her ukulele and reading to her heart’s content where music, laughter and love are guaranteed.
She left behind her husband and the love of her life, Jesse Schaa, her sisters Karen Wurtz and Christine Keister, her dad Shirl Keister along with her ridiculous dog Roxie and so many family members and friends. She is meeting up with her mother Elaine and others who were waiting for her with open arms.
Kathy did a great job while she was here. She made us smile, laugh, and do things we normally would not do. She showed us the beauty of this world and in each of our lives. Her smile, her laughter, her warmth, her energy, her love for animals, her passion for fashion, her love to travel, and her love for the holidays will always be remembered.
She worked hard her whole life, even up to the end, doing what she loved at Nordstrom, American Cancer Society and other businesses. Her strong passion for volunteering benefited many organizations including: The Candle Lighters, Fremont Elks Lodge, the Fremont 4th of July Parade, Irvington Business Association and many more. She made a difference in the lives of many, especially her husband’s.
You are invited to join Kathy’s family in the Celebration of her Life on Saturday November 13, 2021, at 3:00 pm at the place she enjoyed; the Fremont Elks Lodge located at 38991 Farwell Drive, in Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ohlone Humane Society at https://ohlonehumanesociety.org/donate or the American Cancer Society.
Will be there with Bling on.. instead of bells 😉 Our girl is going to dearly missed but celebrated in style!
I’m not sure what to say after hearing this news today only because there is so much to say. Kathy and I were super close in our early twenty’s. I’m 30 years sober as of May 5 th and have been a member of AA since 1991. When I share My experience strength and hopeFrom the podium Kathy always has a mention. She was the first person to look at me in the eyes and I quote” you are being a real jerk Miles “ . Then walked away. I respected her friendship so much it was the biggest crack and helping me get sober. What an absolute force of nature Kathy was. Love and Light to her husband Jesse and her sisters and her dear father.
Love you Kathy .
Miles Barry
