Kathleen Rose Heppler-Cavit, born February 5, 1944, passed peacefully on November 15, 2014 in Fremont, CA with her loving family and friends by her side. She was born in Ogden, UT at the Dee Hospital and moved to Utah Street in San Francisco at the age of 8. Kathy grew up in the Bay Area and was a member of the first graduating class of Terra Nova High School in Pacifica. After serving as a phone operator for Ma Bell, Kathy had a long career in the Human Resources department for BART police.
Throughout her long and strenuous battle with the cancer invading her body, she remained the strong, loving, beautiful, inspirational, and caring person she was throughout life. Kathy was presented with a Courage Award by the Wings of Hope for Melanoma Research in 2013 for her bravery and tremendous strength shown during her long battle with Melanoma.
Her loving devotion lives on through her wonderful grandchildren, Audrey, age 12; Sadie, age 9; and Jackson, age 5.
Kathy is predeceased by her brother John David and mother Luana Glenn Naumann. She is survived by her loving husband Frank, sons Dean and wife Bonnie Wolfe; Scott Church; Michael and his wife Melissa Church; grandchildren Audrey, Sadie, and Jackson; sisters Patricia and her husband Logan Valentine; Lisa and her husband Lenn Putnam; cousins Kathleen, David and Alan; nieces and nephews Matthew, Rees, Michelle, Ryan, Rebecca, Courtney, Josh and Cameron. And her extended family Jolie, Taylor, Joe, Sharyn and Ray.
Flowers for the service can be sent on Wednesday, November 19th to Berge Pappas Smith Mortuary at 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538.
Memorial services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 42500 Gatewood Street, Fremont, CA 94538 on November 20th at 11am (viewing is 1 hour prior).
