Kurt Zelher

Kurt A. Zeiher passed from this life on June 6, 2013 at the age of 86. He was born in San Francisco to Alfred and Martha Zeiher who had emigrated from Germany. He graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco. Like many young men of his generation he joined the military. Kurt found his calling with the United States Construction Battalion (Seabees) serving in the Pacific Theatre. He excelled in all skills associated with the construction trade and used these skills throughout the remainder of his life completing many projects around his home and those of relatives. Upon returning to civilian life, Kurt graduated from Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Agriculture. He was a fieldman for Fruitvale Canning Company and Tri Valley Foods both located in Modesto. Kurt married Lena Lorenzi of Santa Cruz in 1958. They established their home in Fremont. After retirement, Kurt & Lena enjoyed traveling to all the beautiful regions of these United States. Kurt is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lloyd as well as his wife, Lena who passed away in April, 2013. Survivors also include his nephew Gary Zeiher (Becky) of Manteca and their children Adam, Ian and Jared and their families. Kurt is also survived by his nephews Scott, Steve, Mark, Edward, Kurt and Jeffrey. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Monday, June 10, 2013 held at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA. Burial will follow at Santa Cruz Memorial Park.
