Larry K. McIntyre

Larry passed away on August 11, 2023.  He is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Max; daughter-in-law, Sarah; grandchildren, Eloise and Clark; brother Vern; and father-in-law, Harvey Metcalf. 

Larry was born in Yakima, Washington to Glen and Helen McIntyre. He was the middle child between his two brothers, Ron and Vern.  It was apparent even as a boy that Larry was artistically gifted. As a teenager he enrolled in the Famous Artists School, an art correspondence institution that focused on illustration.  After completing it, he went to work for Weinstock’s in Sacramento as a fashion artist. He later worked for Bullock’s, I. Magnin, Joseph Magnin, and Mervyn’s. His work with Bullocks brought him to the Bay Area where he and Cindy met. They married in 1986 and bought an old Victorian in the Niles district of Fremont.  Over the years Larry led and did much of the work to restore their home. After having a heart attack when Max was 6 months old, Larry gave up the stressful world of advertising and became a stay-at-home dad. 

Beyond being an incredible artist and craftsman, Larry was a loving and generous husband, father, son, brother, and friend.  

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538.
