Larry Roy Kerns

Larry Kerns Jan. 3, 1947 - Oct. 15, 2013 Lifelong Resident of Niles Larry Kerns passed away October 15 with his wife and daughter by his side. A committed and loving family man, Larry was born in 1947 to Leroy and Bonnie Kerns. He was a lifelong Niles resident and as a young man worked at several Niles businesses and at the Pacific States Steel Mill. He served in the US Army, and spent 40 years as an Operating Engineer working in the Bay Area and on high rise buildings in San Francisco including Davies Symphony Hall. Larry always had a smile and a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his wife and daughter, and they made many special memories together exploring the outdoors, working on home projects, and just joking around. He also enjoyed spending time with his large extended family. Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy (Gellerman), and daughter, Sara Kerns, of Fremont. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Mario Milichichi of Oregon; sisters and brothers-in-law: Grace (Darrell) Correia, Glenn (Sandy) Gellerman, Judy (Dennis) Petersen and Sharon (John) Murphy. Larry had a special place in his heart for his many special nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Services will be held this spring; in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Larry R. Kerns Memorial Fund at Bank of the West (39533 Paseo Padre Pkwy, Fremont, CA 94538; Account # 6912). All donations will be used to benefit the community of Niles. Thank you for loving us and working so hard to take care of us the way you did. You are gone far too soon, but we are blessed because we know we had the best.
