Resided in: Fremont, California

Lila Rae Rodrigues, who passed away on February 23, 2024, was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was born on November 2, 1939, in South Dakota, to Harold and Meta Magdalena Weed. Lila was blessed to be part of a big family, with four other siblings named Shirley, Patricia, Carolyn, and Terry. Lila was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, who touched the lives of countless people throughout her 84 years of life.

Lila graduated from Washington High School in 1958 and married Jerry in 1959, with whom she shared a loving and devoted marriage of over six decades. Lila was a Pink Lady at Washington Hospital for many years, providing comfort and compassion to those in need. She was an active member of various organizations in the community, including S.P.R.S.I, Altar Guild at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Mission San Jose, Lutheran Women’s Guild, and the women’s Birthday Lunch Group. She was also an active member of the Fremont Elks Lodge and Fremont Elks RV Club. Lila’s dedication to service and her community made her an inspiration to all those she touched.

She was deeply committed to her family, and she is survived by her husband Jerry, her son Troy, her granddaughters Amanda and Jasmine, and her great-grandchildren Gavin and Mariah. She had many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart, (Tracey, Kim, Harold, Heidi, and Rodney). With many great nieces and nephews as well.

Lila’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and selflessness. She touched the lives of countless people with her compassion and her commitment to making the world a better place. Her family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The National Breast Cancer Foundation, a cause close to Lila’s heart. We have lost a precious being from this world, but now we have gained a guardian angel to watch over all of us.

A service to celebrate Lila’s life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont. As we remember Lila, let us honor her memory by emulating her commitment to kindness, generosity, and service to others. Although Lila may no longer be with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her, and her impact on the world will continue to be felt for generations to come.
