Manford J. Ferris Dec. 29, 1925 - Oct. 4, 2014 Resident of Fremont Manford Joyce Ferris, A Fremont resident for over forty years, died in Hayward, California. He was 88 years, 9 months and 4 days old. Born December 29, 1925 in Narka, Kansas, Dr. Ferris was a high school teacher for five years and a computer programmer and auditor for 26 years. He earned the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State College in Greeley, CO in 1949; Master of Arts from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California in 1951 and Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of California in Berkeley, California in 1965. During World War II, he was inducted into the Army 1 August 1944 and honorably discharged 16 August 1946. He served overseas in Manila in the Philippine Islands for 19 months from February 1945 - July 1946. His wife predeceased him in June 1978. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Thomas Coker of Hayward, California; his son Marvin Ferris of Fremont, California, his niece Kathy and nephew Steve. Preceded in death by brother, Melvin Ferris. Memorial Services are pending. Interment in an indoors niche at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, California.
