Marcelo Alanis, born January 16, 1930, passed peacefully on November 17, 2014 in Fremont, CA with his loving family by his side. He was born in Mexico and has resided in Fremont for the past 50 years. His late wife, Genoveva Alanis of 55 years, preceded Marcelo in death and passed away February 2, 2006. His two daughters, Ana & Gonzalo Martinez of Fremont, and Gloria & Jim Boronkas of Fremont survive Marcelo. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and blessed to be the grandfather of four wonderful grandsons. He was also blessed with six great grandchildren, and two sisters. Marcelo loved sports and family gatherings. He was known for his sense of humor and love of life. He was a longtime member and volunteer at both Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Leonard parish and was a part of the Guadalupano group. Family and friends are invited to attend a 6:30 PM vigil service with visitation starting at 4:30 PM, November 20th at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA. A mass of resurrection will be 10:30 AM, November 21st at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 40382 Fremont Blvd., Fremont CA. Internment will take place after mass at Irvington Memorial Cemetery, 41001 Chapel Way, Fremont, CA.
