Maria Fatima Fernandes Monteiro

Maria Fatima Fernandes Monteiro was born on July 7, 1926, to Joao and Emilia Miranda in the Azores, Portugal. Maria passed away on September 17, 2015 with her family by her side in San Jose, California. Maria was a loving wife of the late Valdemar Monteiro for 61 years. She was a loving mother to Duarte (Janet), Delio (Ines), David, Emily (Luis Nunes). She is also survived by her sisters Elsa Dinis, Alice Sarmento, Nair Salvador (Lucio); grandchildren, Eric, Amanda, Jessica, David Jr., Michael, Dylan, and Garrett, along with 3 great grandchildren. Maria is proceeded in death by her parents Joao and Emilia Miranda, her brother Joao Miranda, and her sons Dalberto and Delmiro. Some of Maria's hobbies included crocheting, cooking and was a dessert specialist. She Enjoyed playing the Portuguese guitarra for family. She was a devout Catholic. Maria belonged to Posso, Nossa Senhora de Lurdes, and Nossa Senhora do Carmo. Rosary and Mass of Resurrection for Maria will be on September 23, 2015 at 7:00 PM, at Five Wounds Portuguese National church at 1375 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95116. Internment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in San Jose at 1 PM. The family requests in lieu of flowers, rememberances be in masses, or St. Isabel's Kitchen of Five Wounds Church.
