Martha L Butts

Martha was born in Massachusetts on August 7, 1938. In 1966, she and Ken moved to Fremont with their three kids and their cat. She worked at various companies in the tri-city area as a Bookkeeper. After suffering a neck injury she could no longer work, so Martha became a volunteer at Mattos Elementary school in Fremont helping 1st and 2nd graders with their reading and math. She was so appreciated and needed by the teachers that she ended up volunteering for 22 years before retiring. Her hobbies were Needlepoint, Reading, and Christmas. If it was 364 days until Christmas she was behind schedule. Baking Christmas cookies by the dozens, especially Gingerbread Men for her favorite 'short people' was her favorite part of the holidays. Martha is survived by her husband of 56 years Ken, daughter Cindy (husband Mark), grandson Matthew, and son David, all of Fremont. Also her sister Cynthia McElhinney of Florida. She was predeceased by her son Glenn. At Martha's request, no services will be held. There will be a 'Celebration of Life' party on October 17th. hosted by the family. No flowers please but if you wish, you can make a donation to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
