Marvin E. Hanson

Marvin E. Hanson passed away on January 15, 2024 at the age of 74 in Fremont, California.  Born on December 16th, 1949, in San Francisco, California, to Freeman and Clara Hanson, he spent his formative years in Millbrae before making Fremont his home in 1979 and settling in Warm Springs in 1980.

Marvin’s journey was marked by dedication and service. A proud SP4 in the US Army from 1970 to 1976, he later found fulfillment in his work, retiring from Local 1621 Glaziers and Architectural Metal and Glass Workers and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.

Marvin was an avid Ghost Town hunter, cherished moments spent fishing and camping, and held a special love for ocean fishing with his sons, nephews, and brother-in-laws, Dennis and Bob. Known for his amazing sense of humor, he enjoyed light-hearted banter and took pleasure in walking his faithful companion, Max, through the neighborhood, engaging in heartfelt conversations with neighbors and friends.

Marvin is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Gail, and his sons Matthew and Christopher (Matthew “Teo” Medeiros), and honorary sons Joshua (Katie), and Jeremy Del Carpio. He is also fondly remembered by his brother David, sister Deborah Gauthier (Arthur), brother-in-laws Dennis Skanderson (Sandra) of Missouri, Robert Hodgkinson (Anne-Marie) of California, cousin Tracy Lomax (Jabari) of California, and a host of other cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Marvin’s final resting place is at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Seaside, Monterey County, where he was laid to rest on February 12, 2024. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were touched by his warmth, laughter, and enduring love.
