Mary Louise McElroy

Mary Lou McElroy was born in Oakland , California on December 16th 1935 and passed away on December 4th, 2017 in Fremont, California surrounded by her loving family. Mary Lou was the daughter of William Sharon Lammon and Ann Eleanor McKenna Lammon and the sister of Patricia Giambroni. She met John McElroy at the German House in Berkeley at a dance and married in June 1, 1957. They moved to Fremont with a young family to set up roots. Mary was a generous, loving and strong mother to Kevin, katie (Ann-Catherine), Colleen, Charlie and Tricia (Patricia). She was also lucky enough to see all of her grandchildren grow in to adults (Courtney, Kevin, Jennifer, Lindsay, and Van.) She was the quintessential strong family woman. When you spent a holiday, Birthday or any other type of celebration you knew it. She made them all special in her own way. No matter what was happening in your life, she was there for you and when Mary was there with you, you knew everything was going to be ok. Mary Lou had a smile that lit up a room and the heart to make it shine. She loved trying new restaurants and her desserts (I dare you to find a restaurant that she’s eaten at and hasn’t tried a variety of desserts) and has certainly passed that on to her family. Mary Lou always claimed she didn’t want to be the center of attention, but always was; it wasn’t hard to see with that smile and her beautiful bright blue eyes. Mary is survived by her sister, all of her children, her grandchildren, son in laws Kevin and Regan, daughter in law Elaine and nieces Marie and Annette. Mary Lou will certainly be missed but will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
