Born in: Castro Valley, CA
Resided in: Fremont, CA

Michael Jay Boyd, 64, passed away on August 23, 2021, at Washington Hospital after a difficult fight against cancer.

He was born in Castro Valley, CA, on July 9, 1957.  He was the middle child and only son to Jasper and Rose Boyd.  Michael lived in Fremont for all his life. Michael enjoyed all Bay Area sports; however, his favorite sports team was the LA Dodgers, and his favorite athlete was Mohammed Ali.  As very evident from wall art, figurines, plush characters, and many other items adorning his room, Yoda was his most favorite movie character.  Yoda brought Michael a sense of peace and comfort.  He said, if you see a Yoda character – always buy it!

He enjoyed running around town in his little white car, decked out with his favorite symbols and stickers.  He was very proud of his little sports car.

He proudly worked for many years at Safeway, Warm Springs, and was always happy to assist customers and interact with his co-workers.

Michael graduated from Irvington High in Fremont, CA, in 1975.  His father, Jasper Boyd, and sister, Karren Boyd, precede him in death.  He is survived by his mother (Rose Boyd), and sister (Theresa Cline), five nieces (Sarah, Dawn, Jasimyn, Elizabeth, and Kerri), one nephew (Matthew), three aunts (Aunt Caroline, Aunt Rachel, Aunt Angie), one uncle (Uncle Bob), and many grand-niece and grand-nephews, and many cousins.

Everyone knew him as an upbeat happy guy that enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Michael touched everyone’s heart and will forever be remembered with love and joy.
