Miguel, 80, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loved ones and their prayers on September 7, 2019 in Newark, California. He was born on February 23, 1939 in Glendale, Arizona. Miguel was a resident of Newark, California for 53 years. He is survived by his wife Cecilia of 59 years; eleven brothers and sisters; four children; Monica Richards, Christina Escalante-Dutra, Alma Rodriguez, and Miguel Jr.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Miguel is preceded in death by his parents, Eva Garcia and Francisco Escalante.
Miguel was a very hard worker. He started as a laborer in the fields at a very young age. After, he learned the skill of welding and worked for FMC for 20+ years where he welded Army Bradley Tanks. While at FMC he worked his way up to the position of Welding Supervisor. He retired from FMC at the age of 55. Being the hard worker that he was, he continued to work at Camelot School as their maintenance man, where he was very well liked by staff and children alike. His passion was watching his favorite local sports teams, the 49ers, SF Giants, and the Golden State Warriors. He opened his home to family and friends for many gatherings and get-togethers. He especially loved to cook, dance, and sing while enjoying everyone’s company.
Services will be held Thursday September 12, with a visitation from 4:30 - 8 PM and a service at 6:30 PM at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, Ca. Burial will be at 11:15 AM on Friday September 13 at Irvington Memorial Cemetery, 41001 Chapel Way, Fremont, Ca.
Daddy you will forever be in my heart. Thank you for being an exemplary role model for all of us while we were growing up. You were always our provider and protector. I will always love you with all my heart. Missing you so very much! Until we meet again.
