Miriam O. Keller died at Cogir Senior Living in Fremont, CA on August 3rd, 2026 after a long illness.
She was born in Lafayette Indiana on December 3, 1933 to Frank J. Oberle and Lillian F. Krieger. She attended Purdue University, where she met and married Jack Keller in 1957. She taught high school math and chemistry but her true passion was civic service, working tirelessly with the League of Women Voters and American Association of University Women to promote civic engagement and informed democracy. She was the Tri-City LVW League President at least three times, from 1997-2001, 2005-2007, and 2011-2013.  For many years she led the Mother-Daughter Discovery Day to encourage girls to explore careers in science and engineering through AAUW. She was a dedicated member of the Women of St. Joseph’s and also taught middle school faith formation and Vacation Bible School at St. Joseph’s Church for many years.
Miriam was preceded in death by her son Steven and husband Jack. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Judy and Susie, her daughter-in-law Donna, her grandchildren Amberle and Nathan, Catherine, David and Samantha, and her great-grandson Logan.
