Morris Neal Twedt
November 23, 1942 ~ July 20, 2018
Resided in:
Newark, Califonia
Morris Twedt passed away unexpectedly on Friday June 20, 2018 in Fremont, CA. He was 75 years young. He leaves behind his daughter Tracy Lomax (Jabari Lomax), son Tim Twedt, sisters Cheryl Kaupp and Daylene Beckner, many other family members, lifelong friends and neighbors.
Morris was born in Tacoma, Washington and made his way to San Francisco in the 1960’s beginning his lifelong stay in California. After experiencing the city life, then the beach life in Daly City he finally settled in Newark, CA where he remained for 44 years.
His legacy will remain in the Bay Area for all the sheet metal projects he was so proud to be a part of. He was in the Sheet Metal trade and Local 104 Union for close to five decades. Next time you are traveling highway 280 in San Bruno and see a large flagpole at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, give a nod to Morris, he was so proud of that job that he put his business card, his daughter and his wife’s name in the ball the eagle sits on. Or if you cross the Bay Bridge, he assisted in building the toll plaza and he knew exactly how long to the inch that toll plaza is. He was a craftsman and builder of anything that was so full of pride of the jobs he was a part of for so many years.
He was never one to sit still for long, always tinkering with something even taking it apart out of curiosity of how it worked and putting it back together. He loved antique stores and everything Delaval, farming equipment, old cars and taking the back roads. Every year he had a little farm of his own in his backyard and proudly grew tomatoes, garlic, apples, plums, tangerines and lemons and often shared it with family and friends.
He was a very proud man that held his family and friends very close to his heart. His gruffness, hard working hands, his numerous stories of being back on the farm or in old San Francisco as well as his wealth of knowledge of history will be so greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Fremont Animal Shelter, 1950 Stevenson Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94538.

My brother and I are sadden to learn of the passing of our cousin Morris. We extend our sympathy and condolences to his family.
The farm was a big part of Morris’s early life and we have many fond memories of him working and playing on the farm. A shock of red hair heading off across the pastures making a visit to his uncles Roy or Ray’s homes. He walked with an air of confidence and determination. He will be deeply missed.
